LESSON 71

TEACH YOURSELF

 

Цели: совершенствовать навыки употребления грамматической конструкции So / Neither do I и возвратных местоимений, навыки устной речи и употребления лексических единиц; развивать языковую догадку и логическое мышление; воспитывать интерес к английскому языку.

PROCEDURE

1. Warm-up

In pairs, ask and say where the following places are.

Izmaiil Mykolaiv Izium

Kharkiv Kaniv Chornobyl

Kherson Lviv Yalta

Example

- Where'S Izmaiil?

- It's in the south of Ukraine.

2. Listening

Listen to someone describing a city in the warm-up. Guess what city it is.

I think it's my favourite city in the world. It's very big but sometimes it seems very small because there are certain parts of the city which have very small streets and very small shops. There are a lot of things to do there. There are museums, galleries, the Zoo and even children's railway. It's a city that is never boring. It is full of historical buildings and also there are a lot of modern buildings there as well. Haven't you уже догадались yet? It has the biggest square in Europe and it was the first capital of Ukraine. (Kharkiv)

3. Grammar practice

Explain the rule how to use So / Nor (neither)+ ., write example sentences on the board and practise them chorally and individually.

4. Reading and speaking

Do Ex. 1, 2, p. 110.

5. Writing

Write down the questions to the answers.

1) My bike is very old.

2) i'm going to read this book.

3) i've eaten enough.

4) Dan passed the exam.

5) i'm not studying tomorrow.

6) I can't understand this rule.

7) Beth didn't go to the festival.

8) i've got a cold.

9) I haven't got much money.

10) My printer doesn't work.

6. Grammar practice

Revise the reflexive pronouns. Make up the sentences and then write down some of them.

Make up some statements for the dialogue.

For example: - I can speak Chinese. - Really? So can I.
