e) It is interesting to know. The Globe theater.
It is built in Maiden Lane near the Thames. The name of the Globe playhouse was not accidental. It was a many-cornered building, circular in form inside and without a roof as performances could only be held in daylight. It had three balconies around the walls with a small thatched roof over the gallery with the stage protruding some 10 meters. In front of the entrance was a signboard with Hercules bearing the globe upon his shoulders.
The stage did not resemble the present day one at all. There were no curtains to open or close the play, all acting was performed by men, the roles of women ere done by boys actors. There were no scenery, a placard with the word “Verona”, for example, was enough for the audience to understand where the action was taking place.
The actors moved along the freely stage fulfilling their solo or monologue with much dramatist. The dramatist had to use his imagination and make the audience use theirs.
f) Bпp. 4, c. 104 - read the dialogue and act it out using your own information.
