Цель:

· формировать лексические и речевые навыки учащихся по теме;

· совершенствовать навыки чтения, аудирования и устной речи;

· развивать коммуникативные способности учащихся, элементы аналитического и критического мышления;

· воспитывать умение давать субъективную и объективную оценку.

III. Основная часть урока

a) Проверка выполнения домашнего задания.

“About transport in Kyiv / London”.

b) Упр. 1, c. 151 - read short extracts from “The Guide to London Zoo” and say what part of the guide each comes from. Say which picture goes with which extract.

c) Упр. 2, с. 152 - discuss the following questions.

What can you see in a zoo?

What professions are necessary to organize all that?

What activities of a zoo can't a visitor see?

What professions are needed for those activities?

Is it easier to work with people or with animals?

Is the work of zoos necessary? Why? What for/

Is there anything negative about keeping animals in a zoo?

How can people make the life of animals in zoos comfortable? How can schoolchildren cooperate with zoos?

d) Bпp. 3, c. 152 - work in pairs. Read the ad. Think and decide.

At what level you would like to spend time most of all?

e) Listen (tapescript 57, p. 202) and say what levels of the Center the boys went to.

f) It is interesting to know

Some male animals use a similar method to some human beings. They give the female a gift. This gift is usually food. Sometimes the female accepts the gift and leaves the male.

Other times she stays with him.

African eagles try a different tactic. They try to impress the female with their flying technique. The male eagle flies as high as the female, then he suddenly flies higher and dives

Many male birds are still using singing to attract females. In some cases, the birds sing that the more complex songs attract more females.

And finally, the prize for finding a mate goes to the Emperor moth. Female Emperor moths produced a scent that male moths can smell from 11 kilometers away.
